Tour Plan
Day 1
Tozeur/Nefta → Chott el Jerid → Douz → Sahara Desert
- Pickup from your hotel or accommodation in Tozeur or Nefta and transfer by private vehicle toward Douz.
- Stop at Chott el Jerid for photos and to admire the dramatic salt-flat landscape.
- Continue to Douz, famed as the “Gateway to the Sahara,” with lively souks and traditional handicrafts (main market day often Thursday).
- Observe the shift from palm groves to rolling sand dunes.
- Board a 4x4 Land Cruiser for an exhilarating dune drive en route to the camp; wildlife sightings may include Arabian gazelles, fennec foxes, and oryx.
- Check in at a luxury camp about 120 km south of Douz (Sahara Camp).
- Overnight in a comfortable tented camp with dinner and an evening of traditional drumming around the campfire.
Day 2
Sahara Desert → Douz → Tozeur/Nefta
- 8:00 AM: Breakfast at camp, followed by a short drive to admire southern Tunisia’s distinctive architecture.
- Transfer back to Tozeur or Nefta.
- Estimated arrival between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
